In the first instance, one Tausib and Abid were arrested from near the wholesale fruit and vegetable market in Azadpur for robbing a truck laden with CNG cylinders from adjacent Ghaziabad on July 29, said P Karunakaran, DCP (northwest).
“During interrogation, they disclosed that they had taken a lift in a truck containing LPG cylinders on Saturday evening and, after the vehicle had moved some distance away from the point of pick-up, they overpowered the truck driver at gunpoint and tied him up with rope,” said DCP Karunakaran.
According to police, the duo then threw the victim in a pit near Baghpat’s Khekhara district.
In another case, one Vinod and his juvenile accomplice were arrested for robbing and murdering a cyclist in northwest Delhi’s Jahangirpuri.
Around 7 pm last Friday, the police had received a call informing them about the victim, later identified as a tea vendor at adjacent Gandhi Vihar, who had been found lying in a pool of blood on the Shah Alam Bandh Road.
