A 22-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a man in a guesthouse in New Delhi after he laced her soft drink with sedatives, police said on Friday.
The woman, working in a company in Gurgaon, had come to meet one of her relatives in Connaught Place area on Thursday, a police officer said.
"From Connaught Place she went with a man to Priya guest house in Daryaganj in central Delhi where she was raped. We received a call at the PCR (police control room) at 3.30 pm on Thursday about the incident," the officer said.
Police said the woman's medical examination confirmed rape and that a case had been registered.
The woman, a resident of Jasola in south Delhi, has denied knowing the man.
"The man offered her a cold drink laced with sedatives and raped her," said Dayaram Khatri, her employer who reached the spot after the incident.
