The wee hours of Saturday saw three cars, including a BMW, being involved in three separate accidents in different parts of the city. All three cars overturned due to the impact of the accidents. However, only one person suffered a minor injury in one of the mishaps and no case has been registered.

According to the police, the BMW overturned because the youth had been driving at a high speed and lost control over the car. The accident took place near RML Hospital around 3am and the driver, identified as Umesh Prasad along with his female friend, was returning from a late night party.

“They were coming from Chanakyapuri area when the SUV hit a road divider. The car overturned at least thrice. The occupants survived only because of the security gadgets installed in the SUV,” said a senior police officer. Prasad is a resident of Sainik Farms.

The second accident took place around 2 am near the INA Metro station in which a Hyundai Verna overturned after hitting a road divider. One Rohit, who was driving the car, suffered minor injuries while the other four occupants escaped unhurt. The accident happened due to some mechanical fault in the front wheels of the car.

The third mishap occurred around 1am at Zakir Husain Marg in which a Maruti Eeco car with three people inside rammed into a road divider and overturned. The driver had been trying to save a stray dog. No one was injured in the accident.
