The Delhi Police has arrested three Nigerians for beating up a police personnel and creating ruckus at the Amar Colony area of south Delhi in the wee hours on Sunday.
Police officials said the Nigerians were partying at their house when a neighbour made a PCR call. "At around 4:15am, we received a PCR call saying that a few men were playing loud music on the fourth floor of their A-block house. A team reached the spot and asked them to stop the music as their neighbours were complaining. But instead of listening to us, they entered into a scuffle," said a senior police officer requesting anonymity.
The police said that the Nigerians — who were six in total — were drunk and started misbehaving with police.
"They called up their friends and started fighting with the police personnel. They even tore the uniform of ASI Sumer Singh," the officer added.
Singh, who was badly beaten up by the Nigerians, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he is still recuperating.
"There were over a dozen Nigerians of which three were caught. They have been identified as Jean Paul, Shita Perez and Anday Sakadi Ngoy Mubemba," he added. A case of damaging public property and obstructing a public servant from performing his duty has been registered at the Amar Colony Police Station and efforts are on to nab the other culprits.
Police said the group of Nigerians even broke the windowpane of the PCR van. "They were carrying stones and threw it at the PCR van.," he said.
