31 journalists get Ramnath Goenka Awards

Thirty-one journalists from print and broadcast media, including Siddharth Varadarajan of The Hindu and Arnab Goswami of TimesNow, were tonight conferred the Ramnath Goenka Awards for excellence in journalism by President Pratibha Patil.

Thirty-one journalists from print and broadcast media, including Siddharth Varadarajan of The Hindu and Arnab Goswami of TimesNow, were tonight conferred the Ramnath Goenka Awards for excellence in journalism by President Pratibha Patil.

While Varadarajan was conferred with the 'Journalist of the Year' award in the print media category, Goswami won the honours for broadcast journalism.

The award for excellence in political reporting in the print was shared by Aditi Phadnis (Business Standard) and Pranab Dhal Samanta (The Indian Express), while Ajit Anjum of News24 channel won it in the broadcast category.

Jiji Paul of Malayala Manorama won the award in 'Uncovering India Invisible' category in print, Kamal Khan of NDTV India was the awardee from broadcast media.

The Award for Hindi Journalism went to Geetashree of Outlook newsmagazine (print) and Abhisar Sharma of Aaj Tak (broadcast).

Harneet Singh of The Indian Express and Rohit Khanna and Suresh Mathew of CNN-IBN won the honours in the Film and Television Journalism category.

The regional language category awards went to Abhijit Ghorpade of Marathi daily Loksatta and Chunduri Venkata Satyanarayana of TV9 news channel.
