Ruling out any rollback of hike in Value Added Tax (VAT) on diesel, Delhi finance minister Ashok Kumar Walia said he would persuade his counterparts in Haryana and Punjab to bring it at par with Delhi.

"I have also requested the chief minister to meet her counterparts in the two states to discuss the issue," he added.

Walia also called a meeting of the officials of oil companies to discuss the fall in diesel sales arising out of the hike in VAT on diesel.

More than 400 petrol pumps in Delhi remained shut on Friday against increase in VAT on diesel from 12.5 per cent to 20 per cent in the current financial year.
