The highly decomposed body of a five-year-old boy, who reportedly went missing two days ago, was found in a gunny bag dumped in a gutter in Kirti Nagar area of west Delhi on Thursday.
Police said the child had been sodomized before being strangled to death.
Angry relatives and neighbours of the boy, identified as Bunty, staged a protest outside Kirti Nagar police station and pelted stones at police against its inaction.
Bunty’s father Manoj, a labourer at a local shoe factory, had reported him missing on April 14 around 1 pm, the police said. He had been last seen playing outside his house.
“They approached the police the same day and a case of kidnapping was registered at Kirti Nagar police station,” said Sharad Agarwal, DCP (west).
On Thursday morning, MCD workers cleaning a sewer line in the area found the body stacked in the gunny bag. Manoj identified the body with by the clothes it was wearing. A medical examination revealed the boy had injuries on his private parts.
His mouth was stuffed with a piece of cloth and
prima facie, it seemed he was smothered.
Police suspect the boy, who lived with his parents, an elder brother and a younger brother in Jawahar Camp, was sodomized by someone known to him .
