As many as 500 passengers of Kingfisher Airlines were stranded at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport as no flight took off after 3pm on Thursday.

Sources at the airport said Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) refused to supply fuel to Kingfisher after the airline failed to pay earlier dues.

Although officially the airline did not cancel any flight, nearly nine flights to several destinations didn’t take off.

Flights to Amritsar, Jaipur, Mumbai, Bangalore, Lucknow, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and other cities were affected.
