In an effort to increase the disposal rate of cases involving CBI, the Chief Justice of India KG Balakrishnan on Thursday announced the setting up of 60 new CBI courts across the country.
“...60 new CBI courts will be set up across the country. A recent survey shows 9000 cases involving CBI are pending in various courts,” Balakrishnan said.
He was delivering the 10th DP Kohli Memorial Lecture here on “Criminal Justice System - Growing Responsibility in the face of Challenges in modern Society.”
The lecture is organised annually by CBI since 2000 in honour of its founder-director (Late) DP Kohli who headed the Special Police Establishment and the agency from 1955 to 1968.
