A 65-year-old woman was found dead in her Greater Kailash house in south Delhi on Friday evening. The police said that robbery could be a motive. However, no cash and jewellery are missing from the house.
“But the documents are scattered in the house which suggests that the assailants might have been looking for some property related documents,” a police officer said.
The victim, identified as Jogesh, was found dead near the restroom of the house by her nephew who lives with her.
“Jogesh was living with her husband who works in a consultancy firm, and her nephew and niece. At the time of the incident, no one was present in the house,” the officer added. Jogesh’s nephew Yuvraj returned around 7pm when he found the main door open.
“It was a friendly entry as lock of the main door is intact. She was smothered to death. We are investigating the matter on various angles. Statements of the relatives have been taken and we are trying to ascertain if there was any property dispute,” the officer further said.
