Seven people were killed in accidents in the city since Friday. Also, a Blueline bus claimed its ninth victim this year in Narela.
In one accident, a truck claimed killed lives — a one-and-a-half years old girl and a woman — and injured another person when it hit them in Palam.
Police said the accident took place at 3:30 pm on Nasirpur Road near Subzi Mandi on Saturday. “Ram Pyari, her daughter Lila and neighbour Kalyani were going to the market. The truck crushed them under its wheels,” said a police official.
They were rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital where Lila and Kalyani were declared brought dead. Ram Pyari was reportedly critical.
Police said they have impounded the truck and arrested its driver.
Another accident was reported from Vasant Kunj in Southwest Delhi at 2 pm on Friday. Deceased Jagdish Kumar (54) worked as a driver. “Kumar was on his way to Gurgaon in a Mahindra Champion. Near Mahipalpur flyover, he stopped to change a flat tyre when a bike hit him. Kumar died on the spot. The biker was caught by some of people passing by. The police have registered a case.
In Timarpur, an engineer was killed when his motorcycle rammed into a vehicle near Gopalpur traffic signal. The accident happened around 11 pm on Friday. The victim was identified as Pratap Sharan (30) of Wazirabad.
In Paschim Vihar, Dinesh Kumar (26) of Peeragarhi was hit by a vehicle on Friday, while he was crossing the road. He died on the spot. The driver fled from the spot. Police have registered a hit-an-run case.
In another accident, a person was killed in Burari on Friday. “Manoj Kumar (30) was on a bike when he was hit by a vehicle,” said a senior police officer.
