Two persons, including a nine-year-old girl, died while three others were injured in three separate road accidents in the Capital in the past 24 hours.

In the first accident, reported from near Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, a nine-year-old girl was run over by a speeding mini truck late on Saturday night.

The victim, identified as Kaushalya, was playing in front of her father’s tea stall near Centaur Hotel when the speeding truck mowed her down.

“The accident took place around 10.30 pm and the girl died instantly after the vehicle crushed her under its rear wheel,” said a police officer, adding Kaushalya lived with her parents at Mahipalpur’s K-block.

Kamlesh, the errant driver, was overpowered by the local residents and handed over to the police. He is a resident of Loha Mandi in Naraina.

The second accident was reported from outer Delhi’s Kanjhawala, in which a property dealer lost his life while his friend sustained injuries after their car was hit by a speeding truck. The accident took place at around 10.15 pm and the deceased property dealer has been identified as Sunil Kumar.

Sunil and his friend Pradeep were coming from Qutubgarh side in Sunil’s car when the truck, coming from opposite direction, rammed into their vehicle. “Since it was a head-on collision, both the victims suffered critical injuries and were rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial hospital. Sunil was pronounced dead on arrival,” said the officer.

In the third accident, reported from south Delhi’s New Friends Colony area, two persons suffered minor injuries after the car they were traveling in rammed into road divider on Saturday night.
