The weatherman has predicted a generally cloudy sky with a few spells of rain/thunder showers on Sunday, too.
The capital received a total of 62.5 mm rain till 5.30 P.M. whereas only 1.3 mm rainfall was recorded till 8.30 a.m. in the morning, Met officials said. This is more than 54.1 mm rain that Delhi saw on July 12.
“I woke up feeling cold in the morning and saw an overcast sky. And I was not even through with my morning tea and paper, when it started raining heavily,” said Subho Rai, a resident of Mayur Vihar.
Though the intensity of the rain subsided around 11 a.m., it continued to drizzle for another two-to-three hours. The sky stayed overcast through the day.
The maximum temperature recorded was 29.6 degrees Celsius, four notches below normal while the minimum temperature was 24.0 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal, the official added.
India Meteorology Department Director B P Yadav said, “Today’s rain is part of the normal monsoon activity. The total rainfall till date (July 31) is satisfactory, neither less nor excess than normal.”
Sunday’s forecast: Generally cloudy sky with a few spells of rain/thunder showers, one or two may be heavy. The maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 31 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius respectively, the Met officials said.
