“I feel proud. Very proud,” said Maharaj Krishna Kapoor, while being felicitated for his bravery at an awards function at the Kalkaji community centre. Kapoor was lauded for his courage in thwarting off robbers at the Central Bank of India on Monday, along with constables Ashok Kumar and Vikram, tea vendor Raju, and bank officials, P.C. Bairwa, Rati Ram, H.S. Verma, and Karmir Singh.

The Chief Guest was Pawan Kumar Bansal, union minister of state for finance. Executive director PC Bairwa, an awardee, described the ordeal. “A man wearing a helmet entered my room and pointed his pistol at me. Despite that, with Kapoor’s help I tackled him,” he said.

He then went on to thank customers of the bank for not letting the robbery occur.
