A Delhi-based security services agency launched a unique mobile application on Thursday.

In case of an emergency, this particular application can alert multiple agencies — from the city police to ambulance services in seconds — all at the touch of a single mobile key.

“Since everyone these days has a mobile phone what better way than to bring an application that provides security to the people through just a single touch on their phone,” said Harry Dhaul, Director, Indianeye Alarm Systems.

The application sends out an SOS SMS to a centralised Indianeye Security Call Centre, which then forwards not only the message, but also details about data such as the last dialed numbers, the numbers texted to and even data related to the pictures clicked using the phone’s camera in the last few hours —to the agency concerned as and when activated by the user.

After the SMS has been sent, the application can locate the sender through the global positioning system (GPS) derived from the location from which the SMS was sent.

“The service can be accessed by anyone who has a symbian-based mobile phone. The user will have to download the application onto the handset. GPRS connectivity is not required since it is based on the SMS platform.”
