Since past seven days, 28-year-old Rajni Buxi’s day begins at the crack of dawn with a pooja at the nearby Hanuman temple.
A 2cm-long orange-coloured tika on her forehead is a witness to her prayers for the recovery of her husband, Mridul Buxi, 34, who is battling for life in the intensive care unit (ICU) of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital .
In Wednesday’s Delhi High Court blast, Buxi sustained a severe head injury, multiple fractures in both legs and intestinal rupture.
The shock was such that Rajni, a homemaker, did not leave the sight of her husband; did not even go home to see her five-month-old son, who was taken care by the family members, or didn’t change her clothes for the initial three days and nights.
Sitting on the floor outside the ICU, she was silent as a stone. On the fourth day, the family members forcibly sent her home. “What will I do at home? My life is here inside the room, she would point at the ICU.
Buxi, a salesman, is the only earning member in his family. “I do not know how long will it take for my husband to become normal. I have a small kid and the compensation of R1 lakh is too less. I need a means to support my family till my husband recovers completely,” she said.
