The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has asked suspended IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal to contest Lok Sabha elections next year against Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on the party ticket.
“She is expecting justice from the system that is opposing and stopping honest officers like her from performing their duties. Instead of suffering transfers, suspension, etc, she should garner a little more courage and quit her job to take on the political leadership directly,” AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal told a media conference on Friday.
He said the party has not spoken on this issue (before going to the media) with the IAS officer.
Manish Sisodia, party’s spokesperson, said: “AAP team at Mainpuri, the constituency of Mulayam Singh, will carry out a referendum asking people there whether Nagpal should contest election from that seat.”
Meanwhile, AAP workers ended their indefinite fast against Nagpal’s suspension on its fourth day on Friday.
They were sitting outside the Gautam Budh Nagar DM’s office in Greater Noida. They broke the fast in the presence of Sisodiya and Kumar Vishwas.
