AAP creates new portal for supporters to create profiles, track donations

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched a new website — my.aamaadmiparty.org — to enable supporters to personalise and strengthen their bond with the party.
The existing website — aamaadmiparty.org— allows people to become members or volunteers and donate. The extension lets people create profiles and track donations they have made.
Ankit Lal of AAP’s online team told HT: “It’s basically an integration of social media tools and web technology. We launched it today on a trial basis and the repose has been tremendous. The extension turns the one-way traffic into multi ways.”
People can join the party online by clicking the “my profile” section. The “my donations” section allows people to track their donations, generate certificates and share with others.
“This will inspire more, like-minded people to donate to AAP,” the website claims. In the “my ripple” section, people can start their own donation campaigns. “You can now create a personalised donation URL and share it with others. Many such networks will help fund a clean, transparent funding campaign. What’s more, all these donations are tied to the official AAP donation system, so you are assured of complete transparency and security,” the website claims.
Supporters can also sign up for the “voice of APP” section. “Participants can donate tweets or Facebook posts to help in the AAP campaign. In doing so, you will be helping AAP spread its message,” the portal says.
“And that’s not it. The possibilities are huge. We will be bringing more and more services. We will allow supporters to invite their friends,” said Lal.
But supporters want more. Kumar Agrawal commented on the website: “Aap must launch its own TV channel as many of the channels are spreading one-sided news and views and showing only one party is winning all the seats in their poll surveys.”
AAP already has a good online presence with 5.45 lakh people following its twitter handle and 1.6 million liking its Facebook page. The profiles of AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal on these two social networking sites have even bigger following.
