Crisis in AAP

The Aam Aadmi Party has been facing a tough time since its consecutive electoral loses. Trouble began with the party soon after its unexpected loss in the assembly elections in Punbaj and Goa where it was hoping to form a government. Internal distention and calls for change became louder with the party’s loss in Rajouri Garden bypoll and the MCD elections that followed.

Leaders like Kumar Vishwas came out demanding more transparency and introspection. Some party leaders also voiced disagreement with the party line on faulty EVMs. Kapil Mishra, who was removed from the cabinet in a reshuffle that followed, went on to allege that there had been wide spread corruption in the party.

Mishra particularly targeted Arvind Kejriwal and minister Satyendar Jain alleging exchange of unaccounted money and discrepancies in party funding. Mishra has also claimed that Jain had helped a relative of Kejriwal in finalising land deals and getting civic contracts.

Kapil Mishra’s allegations

Sacked AAP minister Kapil Mishra has claimed that he had seen minister Satyendar Jain hand over Rs 2 crore in cash to chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. He claimed the money was unaccounted and demanded to know where it had been procured from and where it was used.

Mishra also levelled charges of nepotism within the party, claiming that the CM had not come to his office more than twice in one year.

Mishra has also alleged that Jain had helped Kejriwal’s relative finalise a land deal in Chattarpur, Delhi. Following his ‘revelations’ Mishra had gone on a six-day hunger strike demanding an explanation from the chief minister. He later had to break his fast promising that he would bring Kejriwal to justice. Read: Will drag Kejriwal to jail by collar if he doesn’t resign, says Kapil Mishra

Mishra has also approached the CBI and the anti-corruption branch with ‘evidence’ of corruption against the party.
