The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has promoted party legislator Saurabh Bhardwaj as chief spokesperson of its Delhi unit, days after he hit the national headlines by demonstrating how to ‘hack’ an electronic voting machine in the Delhi assembly last week.
The 33-year-old AAP leader, who holds the post of state unit secretary, was also functioning as one of the party spokespersons and is a regular face representing the party on television news channels.
His promotion as first among the equals is being seen in the party as an ‘acknowledgement’ of his work on the issue of EVM tampering, which the party has been flagging aggressively post electoral debacles in Punjab and Goa assembly elections and Delhi municipal polls.
Party’s media coordinator Deepak Bajpai said the decision was taken by the state unit after consultations with senior leaders.”
The two-time MLA from Greater Kailash, Bhardwaj has also served as Delhi’s transport minister during the 49-day regime of the AAP. He is currently in England to attend a seminar of young leaders from across the world, party leaders said.
