A war of photographs has broken out between the Delhi BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party.
A day after the BJP sent photographs of dirty toilet blocks in New Delhi constituency to Arvind Kejriwal, AAP leaders have sent a new set of pictures showing garbage on streets maintained by the three municipal corporations.
AAP’s Delhi convenor Ashutosh sent a letter to Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay and accused the party of playing ‘dirty politics’.
HT on Friday had reported how the BJP had sent photos of dirty toilets in Arvind Kejriwal’s constituency to him.
“When the prime minister started the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, we felt it was a good initiative and participated in it by sending pictures of dirty places so that they could be taken up by the corporations. But we realised that the Delhi BJP had turned it into petty politics by sending pictures of New Delhi area represented by Arvind Kejriwal. The three corporations ruled by the BJP, and the NDMC that is controlled by the MHA, are responsible for sanitation and not the MLAs,” said Ashutosh in his letter.
“If you’re incompetent to clean Delhi, hand over the corporations to us and we will do a much better job just like our 49-day rule in Delhi that had led to a dip in cases of corruption,” he said.
The BJP on its part said AAP was indulging in a blame-game. “Kejriwal has once again played negative politics by issuing new pictures of overflowing garbage. It would have been better had they taken it in the right spirit. Even the photographs AAP issued today are from constituencies of AAP MLAs who had earlier served as ministers,” said Praveen Shankar Kapoor, media cell, Delhi BJP.
