Taking on the Bharatiya Janata Party, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said 300 MPs and even the prime Minister himself had failed to enthuse the people of Delhi.

Addressing a rally at Trilokpuri on Friday evening, he said: “The BJP brought MPs and the prime minister himself to address rallies. I attended one such rally. There were seven MPs on the stage and barely 10 who attended the public meeting. They have brought in Kiran Bedi and Shazia Ilmi but the public is smart. The truth will prevail,” said Kejriwal.

Talking about the Trilokpuri riots in October, Kejriwal said, “There were no riots in Delhi for 30 years but suddenly we see communal tension all around. We are here to pursue politics of love, not hate,” he said.

Reacting to the BJP’s reiteration that he ran away (from the government), Kejriwal said he wanted to explain why he resigned from the chief minister’s position.

“I agree I made a mistake. Just like we asked people before we formed the government, we should have asked the people before quitting. But I wouldn’t have resigned if you people gave us 36 seats. You only gave us 28. The Congress gave us support but did not let us work. But I agree that we made a mistake. I promise I won’t resign again and will complete the 5-year term this time,” he said.

The party, in its campaign too, has been assuring the people that it will stay the course this time and seeking a clear majority.
