Delhi roads witnessed a bloody 24 hours as three persons lost their lives in separate accidents. The first accident took place around 9.30 pm on Jhandu Singh Marg in Safdarjung Enclave on Saturday. Sohan Singh, 26, was crossing the road with his cousin Narender when he was hit by a car bearing a Ministry of Defence sticker.

The police said Sohan and Narender were returning from AIIMS Trauma centre after seeing one of their relatives who is admitted there. A speeding Maruti Alto coming from Moti Bagh hit Sohan from the left side.

Sohan got stuck near the window of the car but the driver Peter (22) did not stop and dragged him for almost 250 metres. There were four persons inside the car. Peter has been arrested.

"I rushed to help Sohan. He was unconscious and the occupants of the car had fled, leaving their car behind," said Narender.

The police rushed him to Safdarjung hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday morning. Sohan was Mohammad Pur resident and is survived by wife Sheela, two-year-old daughter Manisha and six-month-old son Harsh. Sohan worked in a Africa Avenue hotel as a waiter.

The police said Peter was a resident of Naraina village and worked in the house of a defence official. He was accompanied by his friends from the village.

In the second incident, a 74-year-old woman died after the car she was in hit a parked trailer that had iron rods jutting out of it in Northwest Delhi's Maurya Enclave area. The rods pierced her body.

The victim, Jagjit Kaur, and her husband Harvinder Singh (76), were returning home in their Hyundai Santro. The police said a huge trailer loaded with iron rods was parked on the roadside. Singh lost control of the car and hit it from behind.

Singh also received injuries in the accident. The police have registered a case of negligence against the trailer driver. In Saraswati Vihar in Northwest Delhi, an allegedly drunk businessman, Kamal Saini, killed a pedestrian and then crashed into another car in the early hours of Saturday.

The incident took place in the Rani Bagh area when victim Ram Bahadur (30) was returning home. A Nepal native, Bahadur was crossing the road when Saini hit him with his Tata Indigo.

Saini then crashed into a Honda Civic around 1:30 am Bahadur died instantly. Saini has been arrested and a case has been registered at Maurya Enclave police station.
