An accused hurled his slipper inside the additional chief judicial magistrate (ACJM) courtroom at Ghaziabad on Tuesday after he allegedly complained of delay in his case proceedings, police officials said.

The incident occurred when the accused, Karan Bahadur (35), from the Dasna prison, was produced at the ACJM IV court in Ghaziabad for a hearing.

“The accused hurled his slipper over a woman judge which later hit an advocate present inside the courtroom. He was immediately overpowered by the people and police present there,” Ghaziabad court police post sub-inspector Mathura Prasad told Hindustan Times.

District judge VC Gupta said he received the complaint and confirmation of the incident from the ACJM. “This is condemnable. We will initiate suitable contempt and punitive action against the offender,” Gupta said.

Bahadur was arrested by the police in 2010 from Kotwali police station under sections 457 (house trespass), 380 (theft) of IPC and was also slapped with the provision of the Gangster Act. “I have been coming time and again for hearings and no action has been taken yet. The case is being delayed,” Prasad quoted the accused as saying.
