The victim is in a critical state and has suffered 95 per cent burn injuries. He has been referred to Meerut," Superintendent of Police (SP) M.M. Baig said.

“The victim’s relatives identified the two men as Anjaar and Salim Ahmed, residents of the Kithor area of Meerut. The victim's wife, Sabri Parveen, lodged an FIR.

The motive of Monday's attack was the death of Mariam Parveen and her minor child in a similar incident at Kithor area of Meerut 13 years ago.

“Mariam's husband Akram Ahmed had a criminal background and was shot dead in a police encounter 11 years ago. The two accused who poured acid over Usman were relatives of Parveen and Akram and

suspected him of being

responsible for the deaths of Mariam, Akram and their child,” the SP said.

No arrests have been made so far. “A hunt is on and the two will be nabbed soon,” Baig said.
