Gurgaon administration has invited residents of Gurgaon, including sports persons, to participate in the Queen's Baton Relay that is going to be held in the city on September 29.
The Queen's Baton Relay will enter Haryana from Punjab at Dabwali in district Sirsa on September 26. All those interested will have to submit their biodata along with their achievements to the district sports and youth affairs officer. Outstanding sportspersons of the district will be given an opportunity to run with the relay baton.
Members of the resident welfare associations and other social organisations can also join the relay but will have to inform the officer beforehand.
According to the spokesperson of district administration, the relay will start in Gurgoan from the Jhajjar side through Farukhnagar and will continue over night.
Cultural programmes will also be organised to entertain the players and others at night.
According to the current schedule, the relay will reach Nehru Stadium in Gurgaon after passing through the border of Jhajjar, Sultanpur Lake via Farukhnagar, Chandu Budheda, Dhankot and Hero Honda Chowk through Basai.
Gurgaon will be the last stop before the baton reaches Delhi.
The spokesperson said the Sub Divisional Magistrate, North, Satinder Duhan will mark the places on the routes where the players and students of schools and colleges will
run along with the baton during the relay.
The beautification of the grounds and areas along the baton relay route will be done by the HUDA and Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon.
