An officer of the Indian Force has been dismissed from service because he was found to be in liaison with a “brother officer’s wife”.

Flight lieutenant Prashant Saran, posted at a flying branch of the Air Force station in Jodhpur, was found guilty during a court of inquiry (CoI) constituted to ascertain the reason behind the suicide committed by a woman officer in November last year.

Squadron leader Anandita Dasgupta, who was a flying instructor with the Sukhoi squadron in Jodhpur, hanged herself at her official residence after her husband, also an Air Force officer, found her chatting on Facebook with Saran. The couple had often fought on this.“Flight lieutenant Saran was found guilty during the court of inquiry held at the Air Force station, Phalodi,” an Air Force officer told Hindustan Times, adding that the CoI charged him with “stealing the affection of his brother officer’s wife”.

Defence ministry public relations officer Colonel SD Goswami said: “The flight lieutenant has been dismissed from service.”
Dasgupta, 29, had married V Nayar in 2008.
