After 2 years, NMA gets a chairperson

More than two years after an amendment in the Archeological Act, Himanshu Prabha Ray has been appointed as the chairperson of the National Monument Authority, HT reports.
More than two years after an amendment in the Archeological Act, Himanshu Prabha Ray has been appointed as the chairperson of the National Monument Authority (NMA), a heritage body that gives nod to any construction activity near protected monuments.
"Ray, professor at the Centre for Historical Studies of Jawaharlal Nehru University, has been short listed," said official sources. She will head the authority, which comprises five full time and five part time members apart from the member-secretary.
