It is not just Delhi University where the cut-offs have skyrocketted. Ambedkar University has also increased its cut-offs for admissions significantly.

For history honours, there is an increase of 17%. Last year for Delhi candidates, the cut-off was between 65-70% and this year the cut-off lies between 82-87%. The candidates who are not from the Capital need 85-90% to take admission in this course.

For sociology honours, too, the cut-offs have increased by 15%. Last year for Delhi applicants, the cut-off was between 70-75%. This year it has increased to 85-90%. The applicants from outside Delhi need 90-95% to secure admission under this programme.Started in 2008 by the Delhi government, Ambedkar University is a model humanities university with its campus at Kashmere Gate. The university received the maximum applications for English honours for which this year’s cut-offs are between 87-92% - an increase of 12% from last year.

There is also a big jump in other undergraduate courses including social sciences and humanities, psychology and economics. This year the university received around 6,800 applications for admission to the BA programme course.

“This year the students performed exceptionally well and the numbers of applications have also increased. Both the reasons led to an increase in our cut-offs,” said Kuriakose Mamkoottam, Dean, Student Services.

Ambedkar University has 85% seats reserved for students of National Capital Territory (NCT). The admission procedure for the first cut-off list will start from July 2 to July 4.
