The layman's curiosity about Commonwealth Games related projects has reached a new high. People from across the country are filing applications under the Right to Information (RTI) Act to know about the status of projects, amount of money spent and if people are going to face any inconvenience during Games.

The number of applications that the civic agencies are receiving has also increased manifold in the past one month. Both Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) are getting a number of queries about the Games projects through RTI.

"Commonwealth Games have created a lot of excitement and anxiety among people. We used to receive 25-30 applications in a month about Games-related projects and it has now gone up to 100 applications," said a senior NDMC official.

"A number of people have filed RTI, to know the status of stadia.

As it doesn't come under our jurisdiction, we forward the application to the concerned agency," added the official.

For instance, people are curious about tender details of Games projects too. "We had received an application seeking details about new streetlights being installed.
