To ensure time-bound delivery of services such as sanctioning of building plans and issue of birth and death certificates, the NDMC has brought eight services under its service-level agreement (SLA).
Under SLA, NDMC officials have to pay a fine of Rs 10 per day of delay with the maximum being Rs 200 for an application.
The services included in the scheme are building sanction plan, health licences, birth and death certificates, water and electricity connection, booking of barat ghars, parks and convention centres, among others.
According to a senior NDMC official, building plans and the grant of health licences are sensitive matters. “NDMC has to go into the details of the particular property to sanction plans,” he said. The project began in October 2011 and so far has elicited a good response.
Chairperson Archana Arora spelt out the scheme’s details at Friday’s budget presentation. The agency is also working on the Operational Automation Systems under which power and water charges of each household will be put up online.
