A couple from Agra was allegedly held at knifepoint and robbed by two assailants in a moving auto in central Delhi’s ITO on Sunday. “The victim has been identified as Jaiprakash Kumar. He was in the Capital to attend a wedding with his wife Sangeeta. They were on their way in a shared autorickshaw to northeast Delhi’s Sundernagri when the incident occurred,” said a senior police officer.

The couple had boarded the auto from the New Delhi Railway Station. “The driver told them he would charge them less if they allowed two other passengers to share the vehicle. Jaiprakash agreed,” the officer said. When the auto was near Laxmi Nagar, one of the two men brandished a cleaver and demanded that Sangeeta hand over her bag and chain to them.

“A scuffle ensued between Jaiprakash and the assailants. One of them, Mohammad Toshi, was caught,” the officer said.

A case of snatching has been registered at the IP Estate Police Station.
