A 46-year-old security officer of Air India on Saturday allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence in south Delhi.

The officer named Mahendra Kapoor, however, did not leave a suicide note, police said.

The incident came to light when his wife, an American embassy staffer, returned home this evening, and did not get any response on knocking the door at their Vasant Vihar home in south Delhi.

When she managed to break into the house, she found her husband hanging, police said.

Kapoor, who was posted at the Safdarjung airport, was apparently tense for some days due to unknown reasons.

Besides his wife, Kapoor is survived by two children.
