Airport Metro guard shoots self with AK-47 rifle outside Ajmeri Gate station

Eyewitnesses claim that the sudden firing of shots led to panic in the area, with people fearing it to be a terror attack.
Constable Mukesh Kumar Tokas had been serving in the force for the past 17 years. Police officials said that five rounds were fired from Tokas’ AK-47. “His weapon was found in the burst mode. While one bullet hit him in the temple, four shots were fired in the air,” said DCP Railways, Sanjay Bhatia.
Bhatia, however, denied any panic, claiming that no PCR call was received from any passerby.
Senior officials claimed that incident took place at approximately 3am outside exit gate number four of the Ajmeri gate metro station when Tokas was on night duty along with his colleague Himanshu Pandey.
“As soon as the duo reached the exit gate, Tokas shot himself. The incident was captured in the CCTV cameras installed outside the metro station,” said a police official. Pandey alerted the police and rushed Tokas to LNJP hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
Sources said Tokas, a resident of Alipur, had returned from leave on December 28 and had allegedly had an argument with his wife before finally taking the step. He is survived by his wife and two children — aged 16 and 18 years.
“CISF is conducting an inquiry to ascertain the reason behind the suicide and we will provide assistance to the police,” said Hemendra Kumar, CISF spokesperson.
