With just a click of the mouse, you will soon be able to buy a ticket, book a cab or a porter even before you take the Airport Expressline Metro.
Delhi Airport Metro Express Pvt Ltd, the concessionaire company of the 22.7km showcase line, has decided to make its website user-friendly and popularise the airport Metro line among people.
"We will introduce all these services on the line in a phased manner. Commuters will be able to avail these services within a couple of months," said KP Maheswari, director of DAMEPL.
Once the website upgrade takes place, customers will also be able to recharge their smart cards online using their master or visa cards.
"The website will (also) have features wherein customer can lodge their requests online for porter service and taxi services, among others," said an official source.
"We have associated with a private porter company that has opened their counters at all Metro stations. We are also in the process of hiring two major taxi service operators that will provide taxis at all the Metro stations. Once all these arrangements are in place, we will include all customer-centric services on the website www.delhiairportexpress.com," the source added.
Porters will be available at all stations to assist airport-bound commuters carry their baggage.
The service will be available at platforms or at the entry gates at a charge of R50, said the source.
Once the service hours of the Expressline Metro are increased from 16 to 20 hours, porter and taxi service will soon be available round-the-clock, sources said.
According to officials, the website will also have provision to provide special services for disabled and the elderly people.
They can log on to the website and book wheelchair service or any other special assistance, said the officials. Commuters can also get regular update about the Metro service, including changes in schedule, delays and other important real-time information.
A company spokesperson said that through 'My Account' feature, customers will be able to check their smart card usage history, refund history, balance and penalties.
"We are also in the process of integrating the web service with social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter to make it more interactive," said a DAMEPL official.
