India's largest telecom service provider Bharti Airtel on Friday reduced roaming charges by up to 60 per cent for its 115 million subscribers. State-owned BSNL and MTNL said they will study Airtel tariffs and respond.

Under its new plan 'Airtel Turbo', users on roaming will be charged 60 paisa a minute on all incoming calls. The 60 paise rate will also apply to outgoing calls within its own network.

For outgoing STD calls on other networks, roaming charges will be 80 paise a minute compared with Rs 1.60 now for STD calls and Re 1 a minute for outgoing calls within a circle (approximately, a state's boundary). For incoming calls roaming charges are Re 1 per minute.

"We have our network in each state and hence we are in a position to offer this pricing to our subscribers," said Atul Bindal, president (mobile services), Bharti Airtel.
