A unique youth empowerment initiative called ‘Youth Power 2009-10’ launched across the country by the Amity Group in April 2009 came to a grand finale on Friday.
The initiative was organised by ‘The Global Times’, an Amity newspaper, in association with The Global Education Leadership Foundation at Amity Campus, Sector-125, Noida.
More than 400 students from over 40 top schools throughout the capital and NCR participated in the programme which targeted students through classes 8-12, and was launched with the mission to nurture young leaders and transform them into leaders of the future at the helm of national and global affairs in the times to come.
Agatha Sangma, Minister of State for Rural Development, was present at the occasion to speak on “Youth: Be the Change, Bring Change”. “The youth of this country is a powerful tool to ensure that rural India becomes educated in a more holistic way. They are change drivers,” she said.
The Grand Finale witnessed 10 Youth Power finalists judged on the spot by an esteemed panel comprising educationist Dr. Abha Adams and Director Chintan (NGO) – Environment, Research & Action Group, Ms Anupama Pandey. Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity International Schools, thanked Agatha Sangma for making it to the finale.
