Subodh Kumar (38) is happy following his father and forefathers’ footsteps, even though that means having to endure the scorching Delhi heat during the admission season in the Delhi University area.
And that isn’t surprising when you learn how much the junk jewellery-vendor earns from his trade.
One can purchase ethnic earrings, bracelets and different types of neckpieces from vendors such as Kumar, who sell jewellery items ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 50.
“I used to sit in Kamla Nagar market earlier. But from last year, I have been selling the junk jewellery during admission time also. The sale is higher if I sit here (I the university area) rather than in Kamla Nagar,” Kumar said.
“Last year, I sold the jewellery of around Rs 1,200 per day, but this year it has reached Rs 2,000 per day. The sales during admissions is higher than the usual college days”, said Kumar.
