There are three papers in second year, Social Institutions, Prehistoric Anthropology and Fundamentals of Human Origin and Evolution. Third year papers include Human Genetics, Human Ecology, Tribes and Peasantries, etc. There is an archaeological field trip in the second year, and another field trip to a village in the third year to study its social institutions, marriage and kinship situations.

Misconceptions
Anthropology is not only the study of ancient societies, but very much related to current social formations as well.

Students interested in this course, especially the archaeology aspect, should be prepared for a challenging course.

Career options
Students of Anthropology go on to do postgraduate courses in Anthropology or Sociology, which is a related field. Some become Anthropologists, some pursue Forensic Science, some pursue Visual Anthropology and may become filmmakers, or go for Market Research. Civil Services is also a popular option.
