Two armed men attacked a labour contractor and looted around Rs 8 lakh at gunpoint on Saturday. The incident occurred around 2pm at Indra Colony under Sector 7 police station in Faridabad, when labour contractor identified as Shiv Dutt Singh and his close associate Dilbari Lal were in their office.
Police said the victims had kept R7.80 lakh in the office to pay the labourers. The two assailants barged in around 2pm, and held them at gunpoint. The attackers also thrashed them up before fleeing with the money. “According to the complainant, the assailants fled after robbing the money at gunpoint,” said Ram Pal, station house officer (SHO) Sector 7 police station.
“They also pulled down the shutter of the office before fleeing. The victims called one of their friends, who immediately informed us about the incident. We rushed to the spot, lifted the shutter and rescued the victims,” he added.
Singh sustained some injuries and was sent to a local hospital in Ballabgarh for treatment, police said. “A case has been registered and a hunt has been launched to trace the culprits,” DCP (crime) Mahinder Singh said.
