Bal Bharati Public School, Dwarka played host to student delegates from the United Kingdom as part of the British Council's study India programme.
Principal Suruchi Gandhi welcomed the delegates followed by a presentation highlighting the milestones and the achievements of the school.
They also got a glimpse of the Indian education system and an insight into the day to day proceedings when they visited the different labs, games court and classrooms of the school. Their enthusiastic participation in dance, art and music workshops along with their keen interest to learn about performing arts, added value to the event.
Yashvardhan Sureka of G.D. Goenka World School, Sohna Road Gurgaon has topped in Economics in India in this year's IGCSE
Examination. His performance won him the outstanding Cambridge learner award. His tenacity, diligence and untiring zeal along with the priceless guidance provided by his teachers has borne fruit and will definitely take him to greater heights.
Modern School, Vasant Vihar organised the C.B.S.E cluster XII football championship (U-19 boys) at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in which 40 teams participated .Yashpal Sharma, Test cricketer and selector, was the chief guest. The event started with the march past followed by the unfurling of the tournament flag by the chief guest. Modern School, Vasant Vihar defeated St Mary's School, Dwarka by 2-0. Principal Meenakshi Sahni exhorted all the participants to play with sincerity and honesty.
Shitiz Garg, a class XII student of Kothari International School, Noida stood first at the Google Code-in, a programme meant to promote software development in students. 2700 students aged 13-17 took part in the competition. The students tackled various tasks and projects related to software development. Each task was allotted points based on its level of difficulty. Shitiz was one of the top 10 scorers who was awarded a trip to Google's Headquarters in Mountain View, California, USA along with the cash prize.
Students of classes IX & X actively participated in various discussions and negotiations in the Model United Nations (MUN), an annual feature at Amity International School Sector-6, Vasundhara. This unique academic simulation of the United Nation aims to educate young minds about current events, topics in international relations, diplomacy and United Nations agenda. The delegates of the Security Council took up issues of anti-money laundering, nuclear crisis in Iran, poverty reduction through micro finance and local entrepreneurship, the economic and social council deliberated on the topics — Intellectual
Property Rights across borders and strengthening developments cooperation for poverty reduction. Principal Sunila Athley appreciated the way the councils had handled the emergent agenda with the help of the crisis committee.
