The south district police have held Shah Hussain, the biological father of Baby Falak who was brought to AIIMS in a battered state. Hussain was held for his alleged involvement in a gangrape case in his hometown in Bihar.

Hussain was arrested from Gurgaon on Wednesday by a team of the Vasant Kunj north police station. The team’s investigations in the case have been on since the baby was admitted to AIIMS on January 18.

According to a senior police officer, Hussain’s arrest came on the instructions of the Lajpat Nagar child welfare committee (CWC) to trace him soon.

Chhaya Sharma, deputy commissioner of police (south), said, Hussain was arrested following a tip-off about his presence in Gurgaon.

Earlier, the CWC had instructed the police to coordinate with Mohammad Munif, the baby’s brother, and their mother Munni Khatoon in their search for Hussain.

After battling for life for almost three months, the battered baby had succumbed to her injuries in AIIMS on March 15.
