Bhardwaj killers sent to custody

A Delhi court on Tuesday sent three accused in the Deepak Bhardwaj murder case - Sunil Mann, Purshottam Rana and Amit - to police custody for 10 days.

A Delhi court on Tuesday sent three accused in the Deepak Bhardwaj murder case - Sunil Mann, Purshottam Rana and Amit - to police custody for 10 days.

The BSP leader and real estate tycoon was gunned down on March 26. Mann and Rana had been arrested on Monday amid high drama when they had come to the Patiala House Court Complex to surrender.

The police, also told the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Prashant Sharma that the accused were yet to name the main conspirator who had ordered the hit on Bhardwaj. The prosecution counsel told the court that Rana and Mann allegedly fired at Bhardwaj in his farmhouse while Amit was at the wheels of the car that the trio used to flee later.

The prosecution said Rana, during his interrogation, had made a mention of one swamiji who had ordered the shooting.

“We need to take the accused to Haridwar, Mathura and Jhajjar in Haryana to re-construct the chain of events, ” the police told the court.

The police also said that Rana, after the murder had thrownhis weapon in a canal.
Earlier in the day, the accused had also refused to appear for a test identification parade. The accused, who had their faces covered, told the judge that they did not want to undergo identification as the police had already clicked their photos.
