Unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants allegedly snatched cash amounting to Rs 19 lakh in two separate incidents in the capital on Saturday, police said.
According to police, the first incident took place around 5:30 pm in Sarai Rohilla when Rajiv Nayar was to deliver cash worth Rs 9 lakh to his employer’s business associate.
“As he started walking towards the office,
unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants snatched his bag and sped away before he could react,” the officer said.
“We suspect the involvement of someone aware of Nayar’s movements,” he added.
In the other incident, two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle snatched Rs 10 lakh from a foreign exchange firm employee after an alleged verbal duel in central Delhi.
According to police, the incident took place at Karol Bagh in central Delhi around 11 pm on Saturday.
Police however said they were investigating whether Kumar had any role in the snatching in the light of two surprising facts.
“Usually, assailants either stab or shoot at the victim rather than engaging in a verbal duel. Secondly, foreign exchange companies deposit money with banks on a daily basis instead of allowing employees to take it home,” said the officer.
Police said they were verifying Kumar’s claims.
