"It's a great honour and a dream come true," Bindra had said after being named the flag bearer of the Indian contingent.

Dr. Karni Singh (1982 Asian Games), Jaspal Rana (1998 Commonwealth Games) and Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore (CWG 2006) are the other Indian shooters to have carried the tri-colour.

Incidentally, Bindra was just 15 when he made his maiden appearance in a multi-sport event, in the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur.
