The trade fair has opened to a full house during the business visitors' days. On the first three days of the fair, more than 60,000 people visited the fair on Thursday, the footfall was far better than the previous days.
"Roughly 85,000 visitors visited the fair in first four days and the number will definitely shoot up on Friday as it is the last business visitors' day and the fair will be thrown open to the general public on Saturday," said a senior ITPO official.
A lot of general visitors are also coming to the fair for bulk shopping. "Business visitors' days are the best time to shop as the venue is not crowded and a large variety of consumer goods are available. People don't mind paying R400 for a ticket, especially when they have to do bulk shopping," the official added.
Apart from business visitors, the response from general public has also been very warm. "During the first three days the number was 60,000. The foreign pavilions have got very good response. Hall no. 18, which has most of the foreign stalls, is always bustling with people. On Friday we are expecting 35,000 visitors," said PC Sharma, general manager publicity, ITPO.
The number for business visitors is expected to cross one lakh on Friday, the last day before the fair is thrown open to the general public.
During the general public days, the organisers expect the number to touch 90,000 everyday. "The fair opens for general public on the weekend. The response will definitely be better than the previous years," the official added.
