The BJP on Monday forced adjournments in both Houses of Parliament alleging misuse of the Central Bureau of Investigation in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, which the government dismissed as a "patent lie."

Leaders of opposition in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley, raised the issue as soon as the Houses assembled in the morning.

Both, Swaraj and Jaitley, referred to media reports about senior Gujarat police officer, Geeta Johri saying that she had been pressurised by the CBI to name top political leaders of the state in the encounter case.

"The CBI is being misused to protect some from the clutches of law, to trap others and to keep the Damocles sword hanging on yet others to serve its narrow political ends," Swaraj said.

The allegations were strongly refuted by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, who said the government was ready for a debate on the functioning of CBI, but the opposition seemed to be running away from it.

Similar scenes were witnessed in the Rajya Sabha where BJP members walked into the well of the House.

"Politicisation of CBI is taking place. A senior IPS officer has said she was pressurised to name leaders from Gujarat. The government has to react on this," Jaitley said, amid protests from MPs belonging to Congress and other non-BJP parties.

The Department of Personnel and Training Minister, Prithviraj Chavan said it was incorrect to provoke an investigating agency like this.

"We are ready for a discussion on CBI. However, the allegation (of the officer's victimisation by CBI) is patently false. The matter is in Supreme Court..." Chavan said.

Johri, who was removed by the SC from the Sohrabuddin case probe, has moved a curative petition before the apex court to seek expunging of remarks made against her by the court.
