Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Sunday came down heavily on Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel who had demanded her resignation for the prevalent law and order situation in Delhi.
Dikshit claimed Goel “does not have a clue” about the working of the administrative system, as it was not her government but the Union home ministry which was responsible for policing in the city.
“What surprises me is the absence of knowledge about the governance system in Delhi in no lesser a person than the BJP chief himself. It appears that he does not have any clue about administrative structures in Delhi.... My sympathies lie with him for his absence of knowledge,” Dikshit said.
A delegation of Delhi BJP leaders led by Goel had on Saturday met President Pranab Mukherjee and demanded the dismissal of the Delhi government on the grounds of “deteriorating” law and order situation in the city.
“Goel demanded dismissal of Delhi government on the issue of law and order. The police functions under home ministry. ,” the chief minister asked.
Rejecting Goel’s criticism of her government, Dikshit said he will not be able to mislead the people as the people were aware about the issue.
“Goel was a member of the Parliament. He was part of the Prime Minister’s office during the NDA regime. He ought to know that law and order does not come under the purview of the Delhi government,” she said.
