The BJP on Tuesday took exception to MoS for parliamentary affairs Rajeev Shukla telling Rajya Sabha deputy chairman PJ Kurien to adjourn the House, following which Kurien reportedly said “accha (okay)”.

As TV channels repeatedly flashed their images with a brief conversation being just audible, the BJP swung into action, interpreting it as a minister “ordering” the Chair to adjourn the House.

“He has no right to order the Chair to adjourn the House,” said BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain.

Kurien, however, said the decision to adjourn the House was his own.
