After the Supreme Court breather to its new poster boy in the hate-speech case, BJP on Thursday indicated that Varun Gandhi may also campaign for the party candidates in the national capital.
Welcoming the apex court's order to release Varun on parole for two weeks, senior BJP leader V K Malhotra said Varun might be asked by the party to campaign in the national capital for its contestants.
"We are happy with the apex court's decision to release Varun. It has also proved that he was wrongly framed by the Uttar Pradesh government under NSA," said Malhotra, who was accompanying party's New Delhi candidate Vijay Goel during his nomination.
The BJP has already said that Varun Gandhi, party's candidate from Pilibhit, would also campaign outside his constituency according to his "comfort level and demands of the individual candidates".
Earlier, to a question whether Gandhi will concentrate only in Pilibhit or campaign for other candidates as well, BJP spokesperson Balbir Punj said, "this depends on Varun Gandhi's comfort level and demands of the individual candidates...Where ever he is needed."
"There are demands for him to campaign," Punj added. Goel also replied in affirmative when asked if Varun will campaign in Delhi.
